I took these a few weeks ago when the weather was still warm and I was baking that day so had the door open (yeah I know we need a storm/screen door here still). My sweet little girl does NOT like to be relegated outside! She waits patiently, well sort of patiently for me to click my tongue which is her signal to come back inside.

I just never tire of watching Momma and her babies. They hang out every afternoon waiting for my produce and bread scraps.

My 2 favorite characters - AGAIN!!
Whiskey brings Gunner the toy to play with (she never learns).

He is vicious with her when it comes to toys, but he never hurts her.
He just rarely lets her win, he has the strength of a 300 pound man.

Proof in case the above and below photo.

At the end of the day it was okay since their big brother came to visit and they knew that meant it was okay to be on the couch with him - it's the only time, so I don't know if they were happier to see him or be on the couch LOL.

Gunner still won't give up the toy f the moment!

Whiskey decided maybe the ottoman was okay too.
She was just being too cute so I let her stay.

Camera Critters~baby Whiskey

6 years ago this next week hubby gave me the 2nd best (I'd say 1st, but I reserve that for my engagement ring all those years ago) birthday present, our sweet little Whiskey. I had always, and I mean always wanted a golden retriever. So this little runt was my birthday present from hubby in 2002. She is real little lover and a definite fur child. She left the classification of dog the minute I held her.

She didn't particularly like where her bed was located.

She's happy with it here surrounded by her toys.

She thought she'd try the lazy girl's way of playing.

This was her favorite hiding place when her big brother was in the house. It took them a while to warm up to each other.

We found this cute little natural rabbit hutch on 166 near Bakersfield California on our last visit! Aren't they just adorable?

Skywatch Friday blends into a Colorful Photo Hunt Saturday
and then Camera Critters Sunday via the Upper Peninsula State Fair.

The bright blue sky and fluffy white clouds made a wonderful backdrop for skywatch Friday.

You can't get more colorful than the midway at a state fair for the Photo Hunt Saturday colorful theme!

Had to have a hand dipped locally made ice cream cone as the day got warm.

With all the new babies that were born at the fair, I couldn't think of a better entry for Camera Critters Sunday.



This big old marine and the flags also made good back drops for more skywatch pictures.

This guy was HUGE - a real Foghorn Leghorn.

They had an awesome display of antiques. These kitchen antiques truly made me appreciate today's modern conveniences as did these garage tools for hubby.

The kids dioramas were really wonderful.



These two nose to nose were sooooooooo adorable.
And I think this guy needs a little more fiber in his diet.



They had a great sense of humor too.



The petting zoo was a big hit with all the kids!

This is Sady. She's 10 years old. Her momma must have met with an ill fate as I found her and her 2 sisters abandoned behind my garage in 1998. They were only a couple of weeks old. I raised the 3 of them with baby bottles and mush food. Sady grew on me and begged to stay. I found great homes for her sisters and she settled in to our household like she'd always been there. After all she'd been hand fed so she expected to continue to be!

Forgive our subfloor for showing, but we haven't done these floors yet. Sady truly believes she's entitled to people food and hubby indulges her every whim. He's taught her to sit up for her treat.

Here he has his favorite soccer ball or at least what's left of it.

I promise this will be my last "momma" post for awhile, but these were so cute and she is letting me get so close to take them! She's still enjoying her meals at our place and still nursing her little one so I don't mind doing the 'cooking'. I know how truly blessed I am to have this at my front door AND am always in awe when I see the animals day after day.

A couple of years ago someone let a couple of
domestic bunnies run loose and we have
had a neighborhood full since.

Thumper chowing down in our neighbor's yard on some fast growing grass from all our rain!
Now he's headed over to the shade of a big tree in the park for a nap.

See this little guy, he's a directionally challenged hummingbird, roosting in the rafters of the garage?
He's not supposed to be there. He's a little confused.
Hubby went to put the truck away and found this little guy trying to
get out of the garage through the skylights and not succeeding.

Hubby got smart and went out side to get one of the branches we'd just
cut to give him a sense of familiar and Voile it worked.
He willingly hopped onto the branch and let
hubby guide him to the safety of outside.

Sady wanted soooooooooooooo bad to get out and get this bird in "HER" yard.
She has never been an outside cat, lending credence to the inherent hunter in her nature.

Whiskey could care less that the bird was in "HER" yard.

I took these pictures the first week of June.

Thumper was here having leftovers from last night for breakfast when momma sauntered over looking for breakfast. She had just given birth the day before and has been coming across for small regular meals since. Then she saunters back over to where she has the fawn hidden in the high brush behind her. Fortunately the people across the street here on the edge of town are only here a couple of weeks a year so momma feels safe having her babies here every year.

Rayne asked whether she has let me get close to the baby this year. As long as I stay a reasonable distance and bring her a treat (a handful of cracked corn or a carrot) she will let me peek. This year's site isn't conducive to taking a decent picture so I offer you a picture of her fawn from father's day 2006.

On the outside looking in and none too happy about it.
Remember when we were kids and mom made us get out into the fresh air and sunshine?
That's all I did here.
It's been raining so much and they hadn't been out except to do what was 'necessary'.
I figured it wouldn't kill them to get out for a bit.
As you can see from the frowns, they disagreed.

This is the infamous Thumper who shares with the deer. Isn't he adorable? I had some wilted leaf lettuce that I put out with corn before I left for the store. I happened to have the camera with me and was able to get some pictures actually looking towards the house instead of my norm out the door shots, but then you get those too. He likes to hang out under the porch. You can see just enough room for him to scoot under that back edge near the stairs.

I'm still on vacation so this is sis-in-law's dog, Buffy. She got her after her SWEET Daisy passed on at a very old age. Buffy started out to be a holy terror. So much so that I used to call her CUJO. Yes, that sweet looking little thing we called CUJO, PSYCHO and numerous other expletives. And no, she's not a a miniature husky, she's a shaved pomeranian. She has mellowed into a sweet little lover girl though.

I LOVE YOU THIS MUCH...

Joy @ JOY of DESSERTS gave me this great award with the task of passing it on to 10 other bloggers. That makes it quite difficult to choose since there are so many great ladies out there that I try to keep up with.

So, with no further ADO and in no particular order, here's 1/2 my list to start with:

1. Barbara over at Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers has become a close friend via our blogs and has helped through many a 'techinical' issue of late. We have many similar likes, beliefs and values and I love chatting with her ~ sometimes into the wee hours of the morning. She also maintains the blog Kitchen Comforts with lots of great recipes! She also hosts a new meme, Monday's Musings that is full of fun quotes.
2. Kathryn over at Overwhelmed with Joy hosts one of my favorite memes, Favorite Ingredient Friday where we share a multitude of recipes. She has an awesome look on life and is a great caring foster mom with a full plate, but always time for everyone. She also host Pay It Forward, a book exchange.
3. Misty Dawn at Misty's Words is becoming an awesome photographer and is also hosting a new Meme, Camera Critters. It has taken off with a bang and we have many, many players. Check out some of their awesome animal pictures!
4. Meredith over at Mercedes Rocks is hosting 2 memes that I love. The first is Scrumtious Sunday, a themed recipe exchange and the other is Hump Day Humor, also themed. She is a lot of fun and some great ideas for teachers.
5. Penelope Anne, better known as Sassy Mama Bear over at the Cafe at the End of the Universe just because she makes me laugh. She has a wonderful sense of humor and does some in depth looks at local events.
